We hope that A CRITICAL LOOK website will serve as a helpful resource to: all ex-Kashi Ashram members and their families and friends; concerned relatives and friends of current Kashi Ashram members and followers of Guru Ma Jaya; spiritual seekers who are considering following Ma Jaya or joining Kashi Ashram; and, current followers of Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati who are experiencing doubt about her and may want information from outside sources.
We believe in the right of every person to worship freely as they choose. We also believe in free speech. We believe former members have the right to tell what Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati did to them and what their experience was without receiving threats from Ma Jaya and without being harassed by her and her current students.
We also feel that this site can help spiritual seekers in general, beyond people connected with Kashi, and that certain aspects of experiences by ex-Kashi members, and some characteristics of behavior by Ma Jaya, might serve as a cautionary tale for people who have questions about other spiritual groups they are considering joining, or in which they are members. We are certainly not saying that all spiritual groups are destructive cults, or that all so-called gurus are destructive cult leaders. But one of our larger purposes in presenting this site is to encourage an attitude of caution and healthy questioning by the spiritual seeker.
